Write the Thank-You Notes From a Photo of the Gift List

Verified 2026-10-20

After a wedding, a shower, or a big birthday, the thank-you notes are easy to put off until they feel too late. A muse can turn your gift list into a table, draft a note for each giver, and give you a checklist to work through until every card is mailed.

What it does

You hand the muse a list of who gave what, or a photo of the gift list from the day. It cleans the list into a table with the giver, the gift, and anything special about them, and asks about unclear lines instead of guessing. Then it writes a short note for each person in the voice you pick, signed from you. Each note names the gift, says one specific way you will use or enjoy it, and thanks the person. The wording varies so no two notes read the same. For cash or gift cards, the note says what you plan to put the gift toward without naming the amount. Nothing is sent by the muse: the notes are yours to copy and send yourself.

How to use it

  1. Paste the gift list or send a clear photo of it, and add anything the list misses, such as who traveled far or gave something handmade.
  2. Pick the voice and signing names: warm, brief, or formal, from one of you or both.
  3. Read the table first and fix wrong names or gifts before notes are drafted.
  4. Read each note before you copy it. Change any line that does not sound like you.
  5. Work from the checklist, marking each card as written and mailed, so nobody is missed or thanked twice.

What you need

  • Your gift list as text, a photo, or a file the muse can read
  • Names exactly as they should appear on cards and envelopes
  • A few minutes to read the drafts, since your voice is the part only you can check
  • Cards and stamps, if the notes go on paper

What to watch for

  • Names matter most. A note with a misspelled name or the wrong gift does more harm than a late note, so check the table line by line.
  • It is normal if help with the words feels a little strange. The job here is drafting: you still choose every note, copy it in your own hand, and decide what gets sent.
  • Do not let the muse guess at relationships. If the list does not say who someone is to you, tell it, or write that note yourself.
