Work in OneNote Through Your Muse

Through an AnythingMCP custom connector, your muse can work in Microsoft OneNote in plain words: browse notebooks, read pages, create notebooks, sections, and pages, and add notes to existing pages.

What it does

OneNote is Microsoft's notebook app: notebooks, sections inside them, and pages inside each section. Connected this way, the muse gets 16 tools. It can list the notebooks you can open, list their sections and pages with the newest changes first, and read one page in full. It can create a notebook, a section, or a page with headings, lists, tables, links, and to-do checkboxes, add a note at the end of a page, and change a page you name. Search works on page titles and change dates. Before the muse creates or changes anything, it says what it will write and where, and waits for your yes.

How to use it

1. Start an AnythingMCP account and add the OneNote (Microsoft 365) connector.
2. In the Microsoft Entra admin center, register an app, add the Notes.ReadWrite permission, and copy its client ID, secret, and tenant value into the connector fields only, never into a chat.
3. On the connector page, choose Authorize with Provider and sign in with the account whose notebooks the muse should use.
4. In Muse, open Settings, then Connectors, and add a custom connector with the address AnythingMCP gives you. Sign in and approve.
5. Start with a read: ask which notebooks you have. When that list is right, ask for a new page or a note, and check it in OneNote.

What you need

• A Muse account that can add custom connectors
• An AnythingMCP account with the OneNote (Microsoft 365) connector added
• A Microsoft account with OneNote notebooks
• A Microsoft Entra app registration with the Notes.ReadWrite permission

What to watch for

• The connector cannot search the text inside pages. It searches titles, then opens likely pages and reads them, so a vague request can miss a page.
• Very long pages are cut off at about 200 KB, handwritten ink is not included, and the connector does not upload files or copy pages.
• The delete tool is switched off at install, and a deletion cannot be undone through the connector. Leave it off unless you truly need it.
• Notebooks shared with you need a wider permission, Notes.ReadWrite.All, before the muse can change them. When the client secret expires, the connector stops until you paste in a new one.
• This is a custom connector, and Meta does not review custom connectors. You can disconnect it in Settings at any time.
