Watermark Your ID Photo Before You Hand It Over
When a company or service asks for a photo of your passport or ID card, a muse can add a clear watermark to a copy before you send it, so the copy names the one job it is for and cannot be reused cleanly for anything else.
What it does
You hand over copies of ID documents for travel, bookings, and paperwork more often than you think, and once a clean copy is sent, you cannot take it back. A muse can take the photo, leave your original file untouched, and make a second copy with a watermark laid across the main part of the image. The watermark is large, diagonal, semi-transparent gray text, set over several lines, stating what the copy is for, such as the name of the service and the date. Anyone who later tries to use that copy for a different purpose has to explain the words across the middle of it. You can show the muse one sample image with the style you want, and it will match that style.
How to use it
- Take or find the photo of the document the service asked for, and keep the original file somewhere safe.
- Tell the muse the exact words for the watermark: what the copy is for, and the date.
- If you have a sample watermarked image you like, send that too and ask the muse to copy its style.
- Ask for the watermark on a copy only, never on the original.
- Open the finished copy and check that the watermark covers the main part of the document, and the details the service needs are still legible underneath.
- Send the watermarked copy, and keep the clean original off email and chat.
What you need
- A muse account
- A photo of the ID document being requested
- The words you want in the watermark, naming the purpose and the date
What to watch for
- Some services refuse watermarked copies. Ask first, and if they insist on a clean one, decide whether you trust them before you send anything.
- A watermark that is too light or too small can be cropped or washed out. Check the copy at full size before you send it.
- A watermark that is too heavy can hide a number the service needs to read. Aim for readable underneath, obvious on top.
- The watermark lowers the value of a leaked copy. It does not make sending ID risk-free, so only send documents to services you have checked.
