Watch the Grocery Flyers for the Items You Actually Buy

確認済み 2026-10-29

A muse can watch the weekly flyers from the grocery stores you approve, look only for the items you name, and send you one short update on the day the new flyers come out.

What it does

Most flyers are pages of offers for things you never buy. Instead of reading every page yourself, you give the muse a short list of the items your household goes through, such as coffee, chicken, cheese, or a specific brand your kids will eat, and name the stores you are willing to shop at. The muse checks those stores' new flyers on a set day each week and reports back only when one of your items shows up on offer, with the store and the price. Nothing is ordered for you. You decide where to go.

How to use it

  1. Name the stores first. Pick two or three stores you actually shop at, and tell the muse to ignore every other store, no matter how good the price looks.
  2. Write your watch list in plain words: the items, the brands that matter, and the sizes you buy. Ten to twenty items is a good size for one list.
  3. Set the day and the form of the update: "Every Thursday, send me one message with any of my items that are on offer this week, the store, and the price."
  4. Add a floor price for the items you stock up on, such as "Only flag the coffee when it drops below this price," so ordinary small discounts do not crowd the list.
  5. Review the first two or three updates and trim the list. Remove items that flag too often, and add the ones you keep buying at full price.

What you need

  • A muse account
  • Two or three grocery stores whose flyers are published online
  • A watch list of items, with brands and sizes where they matter

What to watch for

  • Flyers differ by store location, so give the muse your local stores, not just the chain name, and check the first update against the flyer for your own store.
  • A flagged price is a starting point, not a full comparison. Unit prices and sizes still deserve a quick look before a big stock-up trip.
  • Keep the approved store list tight. A price at a store you will never drive to is not a saving.
  • The muse prepares the list, you decide the shopping.
