Use OpenAI Models, Pictures, and Checks Through Your Muse

Through an AnythingMCP custom connector, your muse can use the OpenAI API with your own key: ask its models questions, read a picture from a link, create and edit pictures in the chat, and check text against content rules.

What it does

The connector adds 12 tools on your OpenAI account. The muse can list the models your key can use and read the details of one model, including an announced shutdown date, both at no cost. It can ask a model a question through the Responses API, with plain text, a picture given by link, web search, or a structured answer format. It can create a picture from a description and edit pictures you pass by link, with results in the chat. It can turn one text, or up to 20 texts, into embedding vectors, the numeric form used for search and grouping. It can run text, or text with pictures, through moderation and report which categories are flagged.

How to use it

1. Start an AnythingMCP account and add the OpenAI API connector.
2. Sign in to the OpenAI platform, add credit under Billing, and create a secret key. The API is prepaid, and a ChatGPT subscription does not include API access.
3. Enter the key only where the connector asks, never in a chat.
4. In Muse, open Settings, then Connectors, and add a custom connector with the MCP server address AnythingMCP gives you. Sign in and approve.
5. Start with the free check: ask which models your key can use. Before any picture, approve the model and estimated cost.

What you need

• A Muse account that can add custom connectors
• An AnythingMCP account with the OpenAI API connector added
• An OpenAI platform account with prepaid credit and an API key

What to watch for

• Every model call is billed to the account behind your key. The cheap default text model costs about ten cents per million input tokens, stronger models cost 20 to 100 times as much, and web search is billed per search. Moderation and the lists are free.
• The muse confirms with you before each picture and makes one picture unless you ask for more.
• The connector does not cover speech, transcription, live audio, video, file upload or download, creating batch jobs, or fine-tuning.
• This is a custom connector, and Meta does not review custom connectors. You can disconnect it in Settings at any time. The muse prepares, you decide.
