Turn Your Receipts Into a Collection Catalog
A muse can turn years of scattered purchase receipts into one catalog of your collection: what you bought, when, and what you paid, in a spreadsheet you can hand to your accountant.
What it does
Collectors buy over years and lose track. The muse reads purchase receipts in your email, pulls out the item name, price, and date, and builds a spreadsheet or database: one row per item, totals at the bottom. This produces a full collectibles tracker database, with total purchase value tallied, ready for an accountant. It works for cards, sneakers, watches, art prints, anything you bought with emailed receipts.
How to use it
- Define the collection in plain words: "Find every purchase receipt for trading cards in my Gmail."
- Ask for the columns you need: item, date bought, price paid, seller. Add an empty "current value" column you can fill in later.
- Read through the rows before you send the spreadsheet anywhere. Duplicates and misread items happen; a ten-minute review beats an embarrassing document.
What you need
- Email connected with read access, since the receipts have to be in there
- A clear definition of what counts as part of the collection
What to watch for
The catalog only goes back as far as your inbox does. Cash purchases and deleted emails are invisible to it, and it cannot catalog what it cannot find.
Price paid is not current value. What you spent in 2021 is not what it is worth today; the spreadsheet is a record, not an appraisal.
A list of what you own and what you paid for it is a financial document. Store the finished spreadsheet like one, not like a shopping list. The muse prepares; you decide.
