Turn Grocery Photos Into a Running Household Inventory

確認済み 2026-11-03

Send your muse a photo of each grocery shop and it turns the photo into a running list of what your household has in stock, then keeps that list updated as you shop and use things.

What it does

Most households shop from memory, so the same basics get bought twice while other things run out without anyone noticing. A running inventory fixes that, and the photo is what makes it easy to keep. After a shop, you send one photo of the bags, the counter, or the loaded fridge shelves. The muse reads the photo, names each item it can see, and adds it to your household list with a rough amount. The list lives in the chat, so it carries from week to week. Before the next shop you can ask what you already have, what is running low, and what you do not need to buy again. When you finish something, you say so in one short message and the muse takes it off. Nothing needs scanning at checkout, and nothing needs typing into a separate app.

How to use it

  1. Start the list with one message: "Keep a running inventory of the food and basics in my house. I will send photos after each shop."
  2. After your next shop, send a clear photo of everything laid out or put away, before it disappears into cupboards.
  3. Read the list the muse builds from the photo and correct it once, item by item. This first pass sets the amounts right.
  4. As you use things up, say so in a quick message: "We finished the rice and the laundry detergent."
  5. Before each shop, ask: "What do we already have, and what is running low?" Shop from that answer instead of from memory.

What you need

  • A muse account on your phone
  • A camera photo after each shop, taken in decent light
  • A minute after each shop to correct anything the photo got wrong

What to watch for

  • Photos hide things. Items at the back of a bag or inside another box will be missed, so spread the shop out for the photo or name the hidden items in a follow-up message.
  • Amounts from a photo are estimates. Half a bottle reads as a bottle. Correct the list when it matters, and treat low-stock warnings as prompts to check, not as fact.
  • The list only knows what you show it. A shop you forget to photograph never lands on the list, and the next answer will be wrong about them.
