Turn a Concert Setlist Into a Playlist Before You Leave
The best part of a great concert is hearing it again on the way home, but rebuilding the setlist from memory the next day never quite works. A muse can take the setlist from a photo or screenshot you share at the show, identify each song in order, and build it as a playlist in your music account before you have left the venue.
What it does
Venues, bands, and fans post setlists as photos and screenshots: a shot of the paper list taped to the stage, or a post from the night. Send the muse the photo at the show, and the playlist can be ready before the ride home. The order is kept, so the playlist follows the show as it actually ran, including the encore.
How to use it
- At the show, or right after it, get the setlist: photograph the paper setlist if you can see one, or screenshot a setlist post for that night.
- Send the images to the muse and say: "Turn this setlist into a playlist in my account, in show order."
- If a title is short or unclear in the photo, the muse should ask rather than guess. One wrong song in the middle breaks the memory.
- Check the playlist once: opening song, any cover played mid-set, and the encore at the end.
- Save it with the date and venue in the name, so future you can find the night again.
What you need
- A music account connected to the muse, with permission to create playlists
- A readable photo or screenshot of the setlist from the actual night, not a planned list from an earlier show
- Your phone, since the whole point is doing it before the moment fades
What to watch for
- Bands change setlists mid-show. A printed list may include a song that was skipped or miss one that was added. If you were there, trust your ears over the paper and tell the muse the fix.
- Covers can be misread. A title on the list may be another artist's song, and the muse should match the version played, not the most famous version.
- Blurry photos produce wrong titles. Zoom in when you shoot the list, and retake it if the small print is soft.
- For a new act with nothing posted, the muse can build the playlist from your own notes from the night instead.
