Track Your Team's Issues and Projects Through Linear

Verified 2026-10-31

Your muse can read and update your team's work in Linear, so you can ask what is open, what is stuck, and what changed without opening the project board yourself.

What it does

Linear is a tool software teams use to track issues, which are pieces of work to fix or build, along with projects, work cycles, labels, and statuses. Once it is connected, your muse can read issues and their comments, projects, planning documents, teams, people, cycles, labels, and statuses. Ask it to list the open issues on one project, find every comment where you were mentioned, or sum up where a cycle stands. With added access, it can also write: create or update an issue, a project, a comment, or a label, keeping the fields and links you did not ask to change exactly as they were. The first connection is read only, on purpose. Writing needs a separate access grant from you, and that grant is not the same thing as approving one change. Each change still asks for approval as your settings require.

How to use it

  1. Connect Linear using the connect link your muse gives you. Never share sign-in details or tokens in chat.
  2. Start with reads you can check: "List the open issues on this project and who owns each one."
  3. Name the exact team, project, and issue before asking for any change.
  4. When you want your muse to write, approve the added access it asks for, then check the new tool list it offers before asking again.
  5. After a change, ask for the issue to be read back so you can see what actually changed.

What you need

  • A muse account
  • A Linear account and a workspace with work in it
  • Added access granted in Linear before your muse can create or update anything

What to watch for

  • While your grant is read only, the write tools stay hidden. A list showing only reading tools does not mean writing is unsupported, it means the extra access has not been granted yet.
  • Similar issue titles are easy to mix up. Resolve the exact issue first, and correct your muse if it lands on the wrong one.
  • If an update seems to fail or times out, read the issue before trying again. Linear may already have saved the change, and a blind retry can save it twice.
  • Disconnecting removes the stored connection at once. Reconnecting means doing the connect steps again.
