Track Insider Buying and Selling in Stocks You Own

Verified 2026-10-17

A muse can watch the public insider trading reports for the stocks you own and send you a short daily note when company leaders buy or sell, so you see those moves without checking filing sites yourself.

What it does

When a company officer or director buys or sells their own company stock, that trade is reported in a public filing. Those filings are free to read, but nobody checks them every day, and one filing at a time tells you little. A muse can keep a list of the stocks you own, check the new filings for those companies each day, and report what changed in plain words: who traded, whether they bought or sold, how many shares, and at roughly what price. The report comes to you. You do not go hunting for it.

How to use it

  1. Name the stocks you own or follow closely. A short list works better than your whole watch list.
  2. Say: "Every morning, check the insider trade filings for these companies. Tell me who bought or sold, how much, and the price. Say nothing on days when there is no trade to report."
  3. Read the note with the reason in mind. A planned sale on a set schedule is routine for many executives, so ask the muse to flag whether the filing shows a pre-set plan when that detail is listed.
  4. Open the filing itself before you act on anything. The muse can link or quote the source line, and the filing is the record.
  5. Prune the list every few months. Sold a stock? Tell the muse to stop tracking it.

What you need

  • A muse account
  • The names or ticker symbols of the stocks you want tracked
  • A daily delivery time that fits your routine

What to watch for

An insider sale is not a signal to sell, and an insider buy is not a tip to buy. Executives sell for taxes, house purchases, and set schedules that have nothing to do with what they think of the company. Treat the daily note as a fact to know, not an instruction to trade. Filings can also arrive a couple of days after the trade itself, so the report is a record, not a live wire. The muse watches the public record and reports it, you decide what, if anything, it means for your money.
