Track Calories Without the App Subscription
A muse can keep a running food log from meal photos and one-line notes, track the day's totals, and send a morning summary, no separate subscription needed.
What it does
With one setup prompt, the muse keeps a single running log file. For each meal you send a photo or a one-line note; it estimates calories and protein, adds them to the day's total, and confirms the new total. Every morning it messages yesterday's numbers. Over a two-week stretch, the log holds up: meals get logged daily, morning check-ins arrive on time, duplicate entries get caught, and unclear notes are answered with a clarifying question instead of a guess.
How to use it
- Give one setup prompt: "You are my food log. Keep one running log file. When I send a photo or a note about a meal, estimate the calories and protein, add it to today's total, and confirm the new total. Every morning, message me with yesterday's numbers. Every evening, tell me roughly what's left for the day. If a note is unclear, ask me instead of guessing."
- Send meals the same way every day: photo or one line. Consistency is what makes the log useful.
- Correct it in plain words when a number is off: "That was a large portion, double it." It adjusts and keeps going.
- Once a week, ask: "Summarize the week. What patterns do you see?"
What you need
- A camera for meal photos
- A fixed morning time for the check-in
- One setup conversation
What to watch for
This is a log, not a diet coach. Skip it if you are under 18 or have a history of disordered eating. No camera sees the spoon of oil in the pan, so treat the numbers as estimates, not lab results.
