Separate Your Work Spending From Your Personal Spending
If you pay for work and personal things from the same accounts, sorting them later is a slow chore. A muse can sort the spending for you by checking each charge against your calendar and your travel, so work costs and personal costs end up in two clean lists.
What it does
Connect your spending and your calendar, and the muse goes through your charges one by one. A charge that lines up with a client meeting, a work trip, or a travel day goes on the work list. A charge with no work match goes on the personal list. Charges it cannot place with confidence go on a third list for you to decide, instead of being guessed at. You get the sorted lists in plain form, ready to hand to an accountant, an employer, or your own records. The same sort can run every week or every month, so the pile never builds up again.
How to use it
- Connect the account or card you want sorted, and connect your calendar.
- Say what counts as work in your case: client names, work trips, or the kinds of meetings that make a charge a work charge.
- Ask: "Go through last month, and split every charge into work, personal, and not sure, using my calendar and travel to decide."
- Read the not sure list yourself and place each charge. Tell the muse your calls, so it learns the pattern for next time.
- Save the final lists where you keep your records, and set the same sort to run on a regular rhythm.
What you need
- A card or bank account the muse can read
- A calendar the muse can read, with your meetings and travel on it
- A short note on what counts as work spending for you
What to watch for
The sort is only as good as the calendar behind it. A work lunch that never made it onto the calendar can land on the personal list, so skim the full result the first few times instead of trusting it blind. Keep the not sure list turned on: a charge placed honestly in that pile is better than a confident wrong answer. It is normal if handing an agent your spending and calendar feels like a lot at first. You can connect one card to start, review what it can see, and disconnect either source at any time. The muse sorts and prepares; you decide the final calls.
