Send Your Monthly Invoice by Reporting Your Hours

Verified 2026-11-04

If you do regular work for one household or client, a muse can hold a standing monthly invoice for you: you report your hours, and it builds the bill and sends it on the first of the month.

What it does

Plenty of steady work runs on trust and a monthly bill: the meal-prep cook who comes twice a week, the cleaner on a standing visit, the tutor, the dog walker. The work gets done, and the invoice is the part that slips, because it means sitting down with hours and a rate at the end of a long day. A muse can take that job over. You set the routine up once in the chat: the client, the rate, and the send day. Each month you tell the muse how many hours you worked, and it creates the invoice for that total and sends it on the day you set. The client gets a proper bill on a predictable day, and the paperwork stops slipping.

How to use it

  1. Agree the basics with your client first: your hourly rate, what counts as a billable hour, and the day the invoice should arrive.
  2. Tell the muse those basics in the chat, with the client name and where the invoice should be sent.
  3. Keep a simple hours note as you work: a line per visit, with the date and hours.
  4. Near the end of the month, give the muse your total hours and ask it to show you the invoice before it sends.
  5. Read the draft once: client, hours, rate, total. Approve it before it sends.

What you need

  • A Muse account
  • One regular client who has agreed to a monthly invoice at a set rate
  • A simple record of your hours for the month
  • The client name and the email or address the invoice goes to

What to watch for

  • The muse bills the hours you report. If your note is short a visit, the invoice is short too. Keep the note on the day, not from memory at month end.
  • An invoice that sends itself can send a wrong one by itself. Keep the review step on for the total, every month.
  • Agree in advance how extra work counts: a longer visit, supplies you bought, a canceled day. Surprises on a bill break a good standing arrangement.
  • It is normal if handing billing to an agent sounds strange at first. You set the rate, you report the hours, and you can pause the routine at any time.
