Search and Read Federal Law Through US Codex

確認済み 2026-11-06

Through a free custom connector, US Codex, your muse can search and read federal law in plain words: the United States Code, federal regulations, public laws, bills, and executive orders, with links between them and change history.

What it does

US Codex gives Muse 5 tools across the full text of federal law. Search covers every set of documents at once, or just one set if you narrow it, and each result comes back with its citation, a link, and the matching words. Fetch reads a document as text, such as a code section with its notes, a public law, a bill at any version, or an executive order. Citations shows what cites a section, law, bill, or order, including regulations issued under a law, listed 50 at a time. History shows how a document came to be: the laws that made and changed a code section and every release that altered its text, or the path of a bill with version links. Compare shows what changed in a code section between two releases, with each addition, removal, change, and renumbering marked. A useful first ask: how one tax code section has changed over five years.

How to use it

  1. Open Muse and paste the connector request for US Codex, using the address the listing gives you.
  2. Approve only what Muse asks to share with the service. No account and no key are needed.
  3. Start with one narrow question: name the law, section, or topic and the years you care about.
  4. Read the citation and link in the answer, and open the document itself before you rely on a passage.
  5. Follow up with a history or compare ask when the current text alone does not explain a rule.

What you need

  • A Muse account that can add custom connectors by link
  • The US Codex connector address from its listing
  • A law, section, bill, order, or topic to search

What to watch for

  • This is a research service, not legal advice. For a decision that affects your money, business, or rights, take what you find to a qualified lawyer.
  • Always read the actual document behind a summary. A short answer can leave out a note, exception, or date that changes the meaning.
  • US Codex is not in the Muse Connectors list yet, and Meta does not review custom connectors. Only connect services you trust, and remove it in Settings when you stop using it.
  • Federal law changes. Check the release date in the history before you treat a passage as current.
