Search and Book Hotels Through Expedia

You can search and price Expedia lodging through your muse, book the rates that support booking in the chat, and look up a booking later by its itinerary number.

What it does

Guest access works with no account at all. Connect an Expedia account and member rates can appear, and the muse searches again for them rather than estimating prices. A search takes the place, the dates, and each room on its own: how many adults, plus the exact age of every child from 0 to 17, for up to eight rooms. Results can be sorted by complete stay total, by distance from a landmark, or by guest rating, and filtered by amenities, vacation rentals, free cancellation, and star class, which is separate from the guest review score. Totals are in US dollars for the whole stay. Property details cover photos, policies, beds, and what the rate includes. Breakfast belongs to the rate, not the property. Some rates book in the chat and are paid online. Others book only on the Expedia site, through the exact link the muse gives you.

How to use it

1. Say the place, the dates, and the rooms, with each child's exact age rather than rounding up to an adult.
2. Add what matters: a whole stay budget, amenities you need, free cancellation, or the closest or best reviewed places first.
3. Read the shortlist against your dates and budget, checking the complete stay total and the guest score with its review count, then pick one property and ask for its room and rate choices, refreshed before you rely on a price.
4. Check the payment terms for that rate. Online rates are charged in full when booked, with mandatory property fees paid at the property. Property paid rates follow the schedule shown, or the full total at the property.
5. Confirm the guest name for each room, the booking email, and the phone number, then approve. A booking is done only when Expedia returns an itinerary number.

What to watch for

• Prices are live snapshots and can change, so a price is only settled at the booking step.
• Pay now and pay at the property are different rates, even for the same room at the same rounded price. Keep the one you picked.
• The muse can look up a booking by itinerary number, but it cannot change or cancel one. Those go through the Expedia Help Center.
