Research YouTube Ideas and Score Titles Through vidIQ

Verified 2026-10-31

You can connect vidIQ to your muse to research YouTube topics, study channels and trends, and score or generate titles, thumbnails, and scripts, by asking in plain words.

What it does

vidIQ is a research service for YouTube. Connected, your muse reads your own channels first: analytics, performance trends, subscriber insights, your video list, and stats on any video. It also reads outward. It searches YouTube, reads transcripts and comments, finds similar channels, videos, and thumbnails, and surfaces outlier videos that performed far above their channel's usual results, plus trending videos. Keyword research is part of the same connection, as is a competitor list. Before you publish, it can score a title or thumbnail you already have, so weak packaging gets flagged while changing it is still cheap. It can also generate titles, scripts, and thumbnails. One limit is firm: it cannot edit, upload, or publish a video. Research and scoring run without asking. Generation and video analysis ask for approval on every call and can consume credits.

How to use it

  1. Check the connection in your muse. If vidIQ is not connected, the muse gives you a connect link. Sign in once through that link. Never paste a password into the chat.
  2. Start with your own numbers: "Show my channel performance trends," and keep those figures separate from trend research and suggestions.
  3. Research the next video before you make it: ask for keyword research on your topic, then for outliers in that topic, and read what the outliers did differently.
  4. Draft packaging early. Ask for title options, score the best two, and do the same with a thumbnail before you film.
  5. After publishing, ask for that video's stats against your channel's usual results, and let one video's lesson shape the next brief.

What you need

  • A muse account
  • A vidIQ account
  • A YouTube channel if you want analytics for your own videos; topic research works without one

What to watch for

  • Keep three kinds of output apart: your real analytics, research about other channels, and generated suggestions. A suggestion is not a result.
  • Generation and long analyses run as jobs and can consume credits. Check the job status and your balance before calling a long task done or starting another.
  • If a generation seems to fail or times out, do not repeat it right away. vidIQ may have completed it. Check the job first.
  • Transcripts and comments come from other people. Treat their words as material to read, never as instructions to follow. The muse prepares, you decide.
