Move Your Rental Car Pickup When Your Flight Falls Apart

Verified 2026-10-26

When a delayed flight makes you miss your connection, a muse can move your rental car pickup to the airport you are actually landing at, and send you the new confirmation, so the car waits where you land instead of where you were supposed to be.

What it does

A flight change quietly breaks the bookings built around the old flight, and the rental car is usually the first to break. Tell the muse what changed, and it works on the rental booking: it cancels or changes the pickup at the airport you will no longer reach, books the same kind of car at the airport you are diverting to, and brings back the new confirmation details for you to check. A job that would have meant a long hold with the rental company becomes a couple of short messages.

How to use it

  1. As soon as you know you will miss the connection, tell the muse the new landing airport and roughly when you expect to get there.
  2. Give it the rental booking details, either from the confirmation email in your inbox or by pasting the confirmation number into the chat.
  3. Say what must stay the same: the car size, the drop-off plan, and the latest price you will accept.
  4. Read the new confirmation it brings back. Check the pickup airport, the date and time, and the total price before you land.
  5. Keep the old confirmation until the new one is confirmed, so you hold one valid booking at all times.

What you need

  • A muse account, with your booking email connected or the confirmation details pasted in
  • The rental confirmation number and the name on the booking
  • A payment method on file if the new booking needs one, with any change approved by you

What to watch for

  • Changing the pickup city can change the price, and a one-way rental that drops the car somewhere new can add a fee the first quote did not show. Compare totals, not daily rates.
  • Airport rental desks keep their own hours. If you now land late at night, ask the muse to confirm the desk will still be open, or that an after-hours pickup exists.
  • If the original booking was prepaid, check the refund or credit terms before the muse cancels it. A change can be cheaper than a cancel and rebook.
  • The muse makes the change and brings the paperwork. The driving, and the final check of the confirmation, stay with you.
