Manage Your Beehiiv Newsletter Through Your Muse
Through an AnythingMCP custom connector, your muse can look up your beehiiv newsletter posts and subscribers, check your segments and custom fields, add or update a subscriber, and send a test copy of a post.
What it does
beehiiv is a service for running an email newsletter, with a publication, posts that go out as issues, and a list of subscribers. Connected this way, the muse gets 11 tools for one publication. It can read the publication details, such as its name and whether its referral program is on. It can list your posts and open one with its full content. It can list subscribers with filters, and fetch one by record number or email. It can list your segments, which are saved groups of subscribers, and the custom fields you keep on subscribers, such as a town or an interest. For changes, it can add a subscriber, update a record, including custom fields, tags, and tier, and delete a record for good. It can also send a test email of a post to addresses you name.
How to use it
- Start an AnythingMCP account and add the beehiiv connector.
- In beehiiv, open Settings, then Integrations, then API, and create a new API key. Note your Publication ID from your dashboard address. Enter both only where the connector asks, never in a chat.
- In Muse, open Settings, then Connectors, and add a custom connector with the MCP server address AnythingMCP gives you. Sign in and approve access.
- Start with reads: ask how many subscribers match one segment, or the full text of your last post, and check it in beehiiv.
- Before any change to the list, ask to see the exact email address and the change first, and approve it yourself.
What you need
- A Muse account that can add custom connectors
- An AnythingMCP account with the beehiiv connector added
- A beehiiv account and publication, plus its API key and Publication ID
What to watch for
- The connector is tied to one publication. If you run more than one newsletter, say which one you mean and check the name it reads back.
- Deleting a subscriber is permanent. That is the right tool when a person asks to be fully removed, and the wrong one for a simple unsubscribe.
- Adding a subscriber puts a real person on your list. Only add people who asked to join, with the address they gave you.
- A test email goes to real inboxes. Keep test sends to your own addresses until you have checked the post.
