Let the Muse Watch Your Screen While You Learn New Software

Verified 2026-10-20

When you are stuck inside a program you barely know, a muse can watch your screen while you work, at your invitation, and answer the questions that stop you cold: which menu holds that setting, and which button does the thing you mean.

What it does

Instead of taking a screenshot by hand each time you get lost, you and the muse set up a simple sender that shares a screenshot of your main screen every few seconds, only while you have it running. The muse can follow what you are doing, see the screen you are looking at, and guide you step by step: open this menu, pick that item, look for the setting on the left. You ask in plain text, "what do I do next," and the answer fits the screen in front of you, not a generic help page. When you are done, you turn the sharing off and the view ends.

How to use it

  1. Ask the muse to build the sharing setup with you: a small tool that sends a screenshot of your main screen every few seconds while it runs.
  2. Start it only when you want guidance, and say which program you are learning and what you are trying to finish.
  3. Work one step at a time. Ask "where is that in the menu" or "what do I click next," follow the answer, and let the screen refresh before the next question.
  4. Keep sensitive work off that screen while sharing is on. Close mail, banking, and private documents first.
  5. Stop the sender when the job is done, and confirm it has stopped before you move on to anything private.

What you need

  • A computer where you can run the small screenshot sender you build together
  • The program you want help with open on your main screen
  • A way to turn sharing on and off yourself, so it only runs when you start it

What to watch for

  • It is normal if sharing your screen sounds strange. It should only run because you started it for a specific job, and stopping it should be one clear action you control.
  • The muse sees what is on the screen, all of it, so treat an active session like a helpful person looking over your shoulder: fine for learning software, wrong for passwords, bank pages, or private messages.
  • Guidance can also be wrong about an unfamiliar program, so read each suggested click before you take it, especially anything that deletes, sends, or pays.
