Keep Your Phone Out of the Bedroom with a Nightly Nudge and a Morning Check-In

確認済み 2026-10-23

If you bring your phone to bed and scroll when you should be sleeping, a muse can run the tracking for breaking that habit. It interviews you, builds a plan, reminds you near bedtime to leave the phone outside the bedroom, checks each morning whether you did, and keeps the streak on a chart.

What it does

The setup starts with a short interview about what triggers the scrolling, what you would rather do instead, such as reading a book, and what time you want to be in bed. From those answers it builds the plan as a goal you can open and read. Every night near bedtime it sends the reminder. Every morning it asks whether you managed it and records the answer, so your streak is kept. The reminders and tracking then run on their own.

How to use it

  1. Tell the muse the habit in plain words: "I bring my phone to bed and scroll late. Help me stop."
  2. Answer its interview questions honestly: when the scrolling happens, what could replace it, and your target bedtime, for example 10:00 to 10:30.
  3. Read the plan it builds and fix anything that does not fit your real evenings before you start.
  4. Follow the nightly reminder for a week. Charge the phone in another room, and keep the replacement, such as a book, where the phone used to sit.
  5. Answer the morning check-in truthfully, even on nights you missed. The chart only helps if it is honest.
  6. After two weeks, ask for the streak and talk through what the misses had in common.

What you need

  • A muse account
  • A place outside the bedroom to charge the phone overnight
  • A replacement activity you actually like, such as a book or magazine

What to watch for

  • The muse handles reminders and tracking well. It cannot move the phone for you. The first nights may well be misses, and that record stays in plain view. Expect a rough start.
  • A missed night is data, not a reason to quit. Look for the pattern, such as late work or travel, and adjust the plan or the bedtime.
  • If the morning question feels like nagging, change its time or wording. A check-in you dread is one you will ignore.
  • It is normal if an app keeping a streak chart about your bedtime feels a little strange. You set the goal, you can review what it recorded, and you can end the goal at any time.
