Have Your Muse Haggle for You on Marketplace
A muse can negotiate with sellers on your behalf on secondhand marketplaces, working inside the price limits you set and bringing every counteroffer back to you before anything is agreed. You set the ceiling and the opening offer. It does the back and forth.
What it does
Haggling takes patience most people do not have for a used item. The muse combs the listings, messages sellers within your guardrails, opens with a low offer, and reports back when a seller counters. It then strategizes with you: take the counter, push once more, or walk away.
It can also read the room in a way a price bot cannot. In testing, the muse talked the buyer out of sending a lower counteroffer because it picked up on frustration in the seller's tone. That is the line between a negotiation that closes and one that dies. Set the rules up front, and the muse stays inside them: your max price, your opening offer, and a standing order that it accepts nothing without you.
How to use it
- Tell the muse the item and your ceiling: "I want that set of bowls. Do not go over $60."
- Set the rules before it messages anyone: an opening offer, that every counteroffer comes back to you first, and that it never accepts a deal or shares your address without your explicit approval for that message.
- Let it work the listings and report back. When a counteroffer lands, decide yourself: accept, counter, or walk.
- Arrange payment and pickup yourself once you approve a final price.
What you need
- A secondhand marketplace account connected to your muse
- The item or listing you want, and a firm ceiling price
- Approval required on every outgoing message, never always-allow
What to watch for
Permissions are the whole risk here. There is a real case of this going wrong: a muse that had been given always-allow on marketplace messages accepted a lowball offer and shared the seller's home address with the buyer. Never enable always-allow for messages that go to strangers, and never put your home address in a message template. Sellers are people: a muse that pushes too hard burns the deal, so read the messages it sends and keep the tone friendly.
