Have the Muse Make the Call and Wait on Hold
Some calls are not worth your time: the utility company hold line, the repair shop that never answers, the store that never picks up on the first try. A muse can now place those calls for you, talk through the simple parts, and come back with what happened.
What it does
Tell your muse what needs sorting and give it the business number, or just the business name. It places the call, works through phone menus, waits on hold, and speaks with whoever picks up. Simple requests like booking an appointment, asking whether an item is in stock, or settling a billing question get handled start to finish. When it is done, you get a written summary of the call and, in many cases, the full transcript, so you know exactly what was said. The muse prepares, you decide: anything complicated or involving your money pauses for your approval first.
How to use it
- Give the muse the task in plain words: what you need, which business, and any account numbers or details it might need on the line.
- Tell it where to stop: a time limit for hold music, and a rule like never agreeing to a new plan or payment without asking you first.
- Let it place the call. You do not need to stay on the line; it works in the background.
- Read the summary when it reports back, and check the transcript if anything sounds off.
- Confirm anything that needs your signature, your card, or your say-so.
What you need
- The calling feature turned on. It is still rolling out, and as of this writing the call beta covers US businesses.
- A clear task. Calling works best for routine requests with a clear yes or no answer.
- Your approval settings set the way you like them for anything that involves money or account changes.
What to watch for
It is normal if this sounds strange. Handing a phone call to software is new, and staying in charge matters more here than anywhere else. Call quality varies: some calls go through cleanly and feel like talking to a normal assistant, while others get hung up on or never connect, and the feature is still being built out. There have been reports of a trained person stepping in to complete some calls, so do not send it into calls you would not describe to a stranger. Read the transcript yourself before acting on anything it agreed to, and set the rule up front: nothing financial without your explicit yes.
