Get Pinged Only When Major News Breaks on a Topic You Follow
Your muse can watch the news for a topic you name and ping you only when something major actually breaks, instead of sending you every small mention through the day.
What it does
You pick a topic, a name, a team, a company, a game, a stock, whatever you follow, and tell the muse what counts as big. The muse checks the news on a rhythm you set, such as twice a day, and stays quiet about routine coverage. When a genuinely major story breaks, it sends you a short briefing on what happened, and big news that breaks between checks can still bring a ping of its own. You get the signal without living in a news app or refreshing a feed.
How to use it
- Pick one topic you truly follow. One clear topic works better than a long list.
- Tell your muse: "Watch the news for this topic. Ping me when something genuinely major breaks, not every minor mention. Check twice a day."
- Say what major means for you: a launch, a result, a signing, a recall, a verdict, a price move past a line you set.
- Read the first few pings and correct the bar. If a ping felt small, say so. If a story you cared about never arrived, name it.
- Turn the watch off in plain words when the season, case, or launch window ends.
What you need
- A muse account
- One topic, and a plain description of what counts as major news on it
- Notifications on, so a real break can reach you between checks
What to watch for
- The bar is the whole job. If you leave major undefined, you will get either too much or too little, and the fix is a sentence from you, not a setting buried in a menu.
- Check the briefing against the linked story before you pass it on or act on it, because a fast summary can flatten a detail that matters.
- A watch like this reports, it does not act. Anything worth doing about the news stays your call.
