Finish Old Music Projects by Replacing the Missing Samples

確認済み 2026-10-21

If you make music, a muse can work through your old projects folder by folder, find the samples each project is missing, replace them from your sample library, and save the projects complete again.

What it does

Old music projects break in a quiet way. Open one on a new computer, often years later, and the drums are gone, because the sample files the project points to are no longer where it expects them. Fixing that by hand means opening every project, reading every missing file warning, and hunting through a large library one sound at a time. A muse can take that hunt. It goes through your projects in order, notes which samples each one is missing, searches your sample library account for matching sounds, loads the replacements in, and saves the finished project. You can hand it a batch of old projects and come back to a folder of work that plays again, then listen through each one and keep or redo the swaps that do not sound right.

How to use it

  1. Make a backup copy of the whole project folder before anything is changed. Work from the copy.
  2. Give the muse access to the projects and sign in to your sample library yourself when it asks, rather than handing over your password in a message.
  3. Start with one project. Say: "Open this project, list every missing sample, find the closest match for each one in my library, and load the matches in."
  4. Listen to that first project all the way through. Note any replacement that sounds wrong and ask for a different match.
  5. Once the first one sounds right, hand over the rest in a batch and ask for a list of every project finished and every sample it could not find.

What you need

  • Your old project files, plus a backup copy
  • A sample library account, such as Splice, with the sounds you used
  • The music software the projects were made in

What to watch for

  • A replacement can be close without being the exact sound you used years ago. Your ears make the final call on every swap.
  • Some samples may be gone for good if they came from a pack you no longer have. Ask for that list rather than letting near matches pass quietly.
  • Keep the original projects untouched until you have heard the repaired copies. The backup is what makes this safe to try.
