Find the Vet Bills You Never Filed and Submit Them All

Verified 2026-10-20

Pet insurance money is often lost in the inbox, not at the vet. Bills arrive by email, sit under newer messages, and pass their filing deadline unfiled. A muse can sweep your email for vet bills you never claimed, match them to your policy, and submit the whole backlog at once.

What it does

You connect your email and tell the muse which pets are insured and with which insurer. It searches for vet invoices, receipts, and visit summaries, including the ones forwarded from the clinic under plain subject lines. For each bill it pulls the date, the pet, the clinic, and the total, then checks the bill against your policy: is this pet covered, is the visit inside the filing window, and has a claim already been sent for it. The result is one list of unfiled bills, ready to go, with anything too old or already filed marked clearly instead of sent twice. You approve the list, the muse files each claim with the records attached, and then it watches for the decisions so the money does not stall a second time in a thread you never open.

How to use it

  1. Tell the muse the insured pets, the insurer, and roughly when the unfiled visits happened.
  2. Connect your email and ask for a sweep: every vet invoice or receipt that has no claim filed against it.
  3. Read the list it builds. Remove anything you already claimed by phone or paper, and flag any bill that belongs to a pet who is not insured.
  4. Approve the filings. Ask to see one completed claim form in full before the rest go.
  5. Ask the muse to track each claim and tell you when a decision or payment lands.

What you need

  • Email connected, since most clinics send the itemized bill there
  • Your pet insurance policy details for each insured pet
  • Approval settings on, so no claim submits without your yes

What to watch for

  • Filing deadlines are real, and a sweep cannot rescue a bill that is already past yours. Start with the oldest bills first, since they are closest to the edge.
  • Clinics sometimes send a card receipt and an itemized bill as separate emails. A claim needs the itemized one, so check that each filing has it attached.
  • If the insurer asks the clinic for full medical history, only the clinic can release it. The muse can draft the request, but the records move when the vet's office sends them.
