Find the Facebook Friends Who Share Your Interest or City
Ask your muse to search your Facebook friends by interest, current city, hometown, work, or school, and get back a short list with the reason each person matched.
What it does
A friends list grows for years until nobody can say who shares a hobby, lives nearby, or went to the same school. Connected to Facebook, the muse searches the list for you. Ask which friends are into hiking, follow the same team, or read the same books, and it checks interests, sports, movies, music, TV shows, books, games, and podcasts. Ask who lives in a city, comes from your hometown, who works at a company or in a job, or who went to a school, and it matches on those details. Each result can carry its reason, such as a group the person belongs to or a Page they follow, so you can judge the match yourself. It can also list friends with a birthday in a window you name.
How to use it
- Connect your Facebook account in the muse app and review the access it asks for.
- Ask one clear question, such as: "Which of my friends are interested in hiking?"
- Read the list and the reason given for each match before you act on it.
- Narrow a weak result by adding a second detail, such as the interest plus the city.
- For birthdays, name the window: "Show me friends with a birthday in the next two weeks."
- Reach out to people yourself, in Facebook, once you have the names.
What you need
- A muse account
- A Facebook account connected to your muse
- One detail to search by: an interest, a city, a hometown, a workplace, or a school
What to watch for
- The search only covers your own friends. It cannot find people you are not connected to or guess interests from posts or photos. If the search gives no reason for a match, treat that match as unproven.
- An interest search returns one set of at most 20 friends, with no second page. If the list looks short, refine the question rather than asking for more pages.
- Friends who hide their birthday never appear in birthday results, so the list is a help, not a complete birthday calendar.
- It is normal if searching your own friends this way feels strange. You choose the connection, you can disconnect Facebook at any time, and nothing is sent to anyone. The muse prepares the list, you decide who to contact.
