Find the Bill Hiding in Your Inbox
A muse with read-only access to your email can scan your messages for unpaid bills and list them with the amount and the due date, so a forgotten bill gets found before it turns into a late fee.
What it does
The muse connects to your email with read-only permission: it can see messages but cannot delete them or send anything in your name. Ask it to look for unpaid bills, and it searches for statements, reminders, and due dates, then hands you a list with each bill, the amount owed, and when it is due.
It can go one step further and start filling in a payment or claim form with details pulled from your inbox, such as an appointment date or account number. You review the filled form and submit it yourself.
How to use it
- Connect your email using the narrowest permission you are offered. Read-only is a good start: the muse sees enough to find the bill and cannot touch anything.
- Ask plainly: "Look through my email for bills I have not paid yet. List each one with the amount and the due date."
- Pay the bill yourself, at least the first few times. Take control of the browser at the payment step, the same way you would keep your hands on your wallet.
What you need
- An email account the muse can connect to
- The read-only permission option, or whatever the narrowest available permission is
- Your own hands on the payment step the first few times
What to watch for
It is normal if a program reading your email feels strange the first time. The memory and access your muse gets are up to you: you can review what it knows, limit what it can touch, and disconnect it any time. The muse prepares, you decide.
