File the Small Claims Case You Have Been Putting Off

確認済み 2026-11-02

When a company owes you money and months of chasing have gone nowhere, your muse can organize the dispute, prepare the small claims paperwork, and keep the case moving, while you sign and submit the filings yourself.

What it does

Small claims court exists for people without lawyers, but the forms and deadlines stop many people from ever filing. Your muse can take the pile you already have, the contract, the invoices, the emails where you asked to be paid, and turn it into an ordered case file. It drafts the statement of claim in the court's format, tracks filing and service dates, and if the other side settles, drafts the motion to dismiss that closes the case.

How to use it

  1. Gather what you have: the agreement, invoices, proof of the work or purchase, and every message asking for payment.
  2. Send it to your muse and ask for a case summary: who owes what, since when, and what the proof shows.
  3. Chase one last time in writing, with a firm date, and keep the letter in your file.
  4. If the date passes, ask your muse to prepare the court forms for your area, plus a checklist of what to file and its cost.
  5. Read every word yourself. You sign, agree to the sworn statements, and press submit in the court's portal.
  6. After filing, have your muse track the dates and draft replies or the dismissal if it settles.

What you need

  • A muse account, on a phone or computer
  • Your agreement, invoices, and past messages about the debt
  • The court's filing fee, which depends on where you live
  • Time to read and sign the filings

What to watch for

  • Your muse is not a lawyer; this is paperwork help, not legal advice. Rules and dollar limits differ by place, so check your court's guidance before filing.
  • Everything filed carries your name. If a fact in the draft is wrong, your filing is wrong, so check names, dates, and amounts closely.
  • The other side can answer back, including with a counterclaim. Think twice before suing a company with lawyers on staff.
  • Filing is the last step, not the first. A clear invoice, steady follow-ups, and one written demand settle most disputes.
  • The muse prepares and tracks the case, you decide, sign, and submit.
