Draft and Rewrite Documents Through Google Docs

確認済み 2026-10-30

You can connect Google Docs to your muse so it reads your documents, drafts new ones from an outline, rewrites in your voice, and saves the result only after you approve it.

What it does

Writing work tends to stall in the same places: the blank page, the draft that grew too long, and notes that never became a document anyone can send. Connected, the muse works on documents in the Google account you sign in with. Give it a short outline, with the point, who will read it, and the few things it must cover, and it drafts from it. Give it two or three paragraphs of your own writing, and it rewrites to match how you sound, because a sample teaches your voice better than a description of it. Ask it to cut a long document by a third and list what it removed, so you can check no needed fact went with the extra words. Ask it to turn meeting notes into a document with headings, decisions and next steps at the top. Ask it to summarize a long document.

How to use it

  1. Open the muse app and go to Settings, then Connectors.
  2. Select Connect next to Google Docs, sign in with the Google account that owns the documents, and read the permission screen before you approve it.
  3. Set approvals so edits and shares always wait for you.
  4. Test with a read: ask the muse to summarize a document you know and check it against the original.
  5. Draft in chat first. Read what changed and why, and only then approve saving it.
  6. Keep the first week to summaries and chat drafts.

What you need

  • A muse account, with access in the US, Canada, Japan, or Singapore
  • A Google account with the documents you write and edit
  • A short outline for new drafts, and a sample of your own writing for rewrites

What to watch for

  • The muse can draft and tighten, but it cannot decide what you believe or what you promise. A draft that makes those calls for you needs your rewrite.
  • Check anything that touches money, legal terms, dates, or a promise against the original before you send it. A rewrite can soften a line that needed to stay sharp.
  • An approved edit is seen at once by everyone a document is shared with, so read every change before you approve it.
  • Docs keeps version history, so an earlier version can be restored. That is a safety net, not a reason to approve unread edits.
