Check Your Trades Against Your Own Rules
A muse can connect to a brokerage account in read-only mode, pull your trades each day, and check every trade against the trading rules you set for yourself. It then emails you a short summary and flags any trade that broke one of your rules.
What it does
Most people who trade have rules on paper: a position size limit, a stop level, a set of setups they will take and ones they will not. The hard part is checking, trade after trade, whether real trades matched those rules when the day is over and attention has moved on. A muse can do that checking on a schedule. It reads the day's trade details from the connected account, compares each one with your written rules, and sends a summary that lists what fit and what did not. It can also run a backtest for you: you name the contract type, the delta range, and the stop level you use, and it tests how those settings would have done on past trades. This is a discipline check, not advice. Your rules stay yours. The muse just reports, plainly, whether you followed them.
How to use it
- Connect the brokerage account and choose read-only access if the connection offers it. Confirm the muse can view trades but cannot place them.
- Write your rules down in plain sentences first: size limits, stop levels, and the setups you allow yourself.
- Hand the muse the rules and say: "Check each day's trades against these rules. Email me a summary and flag every rule break by name."
- Add the backtest settings you want tested, such as contract type, delta, and stop, and ask for the results in a simple table.
- Read each flag yourself before you change anything. A flagged trade is a prompt to look, not a verdict.
What you need
- A brokerage account that supports a read-only connection, such as Webull
- Your trading rules written down
- An email address for the daily summary
What to watch for
- Read-only matters. If a connection ever asks for full trading access, stop and check before you approve it.
- The check is only as good as the trade data it can see. If a trade is missing from the account feed, it will not be checked.
- A backtest describes the past. Past results do not predict what a rule will do next.
- The muse prepares the report, you decide what it means. It does not place trades for you through this setup.
