Check Time Off and Staff Records Through BambooHR

Through an AnythingMCP custom connector, your muse can read your BambooHR staff directory, tell you who is out over a date range, list time off requests, and run a saved report.

What it does

BambooHR is a service employers use to keep staff records and time off in one place. Connected this way, the muse gets 9 tools. It can read the company directory: each person with their job title, work email, department, division, location, and supervisor. It can open one staff record, and list a record's files by section. It can list who is out company-wide for a date range you name, and list time off requests. It can list every field defined on the account, built-in and custom, and run a saved report by its number. For changes, it can add a staff record and update fields on one.

How to use it

1. Start an AnythingMCP account and add the BambooHR connector.
2. In BambooHR, open your profile menu, then API Keys, and add a new key. Note your subdomain, the part before .bamboohr.com. Enter both only where the connector asks, never in a chat.
3. In Muse, open Settings, then Connectors, and add a custom connector with the MCP server address AnythingMCP gives you. Sign in and approve access.
4. Start with a read: ask who is out next week, and check the answer against BambooHR.
5. Keep staff record changes for yourself to approve one at a time, with the exact person and field named first.

What you need

• A Muse account that can add custom connectors
• An AnythingMCP account with the BambooHR connector added
• A BambooHR account you are allowed to manage, plus its subdomain and API key

What to watch for

• Staff records hold private details about real people. Ask only for what you need, and do not copy directory details into places that do not need them.
• It is normal if handing an agent your staff system sounds strange. The controls are plain: Muse sees only the tools you switched on, and you can disconnect the connector in Settings at any time.
• Adding a person or changing a record writes to the real system at once. The muse prepares the change, you decide, and names should be checked letter by letter first.
• A saved report only runs if it already exists in BambooHR and you give its number.
• Never paste the API key into a chat. If you do, treat it as exposed: delete that key, make a new one, and update the connector.
