Check Free Time and Add a Meet Link Through Google Calendar

Verified 2026-11-02

You can connect Google Calendar to your muse so it checks whether a time is truly free before anything is booked, then creates the event with a Google Meet link and sends invitations only after you approve them.

What it does

Checking free time is a separate read from reading your agenda. Your muse can ask the calendar whether a named stretch of time is free or busy, across the calendars you connect, before anyone commits to it. When you settle on a time, it can create the event with guests, a place, and notes, and add a Google Meet video link, so the invite already holds the way to join. Guests are notified when an event with them is created, changed, or deleted, and the muse tells you that before it acts. A simple hold with no guests is a smaller job: a basic block that shows as busy. After any change, the muse reads the event back and reports the final time and guest list.

How to use it

  1. Open the muse app and go to Settings, then Connectors.
  2. Select Connect next to Google Calendar, sign in with the account that holds the calendar, and read the permission screen.
  3. Ask the free time question first: "Am I free on Thursday between 2 and 4 in the afternoon?"
  4. Name the event, the guests, and whether you want a Meet link on it.
  5. Read the confirmation. It restates the event, time, time zone, guests, and that they will be emailed.
  6. Approve it, then check the event on your calendar and confirm the Meet link opens.

What you need

  • A muse account, with access in the US, Canada, Japan, or Singapore
  • A Google account with the calendar you schedule on
  • The guest email addresses, and the time zone the meeting sits in
  • Approvals left on for any event that emails guests

What to watch for

  • The free time check can be refused while your event access is set to ask first or deny. In that case the muse reads your events instead, which is slower but still safe.
  • A basic quick event cannot carry guests or an all-day date. Events with guests, notices, or a Meet link need the full creation path.
  • An all-day event ends on the day after its last day. Check the read-back dates before you tell anyone the plan.
  • If a result is unclear, the muse reads the calendar before trying again. That pause is what stops a duplicate meeting.
