Check a Meeting Invite Before You Trust It

確認済み 2026-10-25

A calendar invite feels safe because it arrives quietly, with a company name, a time, and a join link. That is exactly why fake invites work. A muse can check an invite from someone you do not know before you accept it: whether the company exists, whether the sender matches it, and whether the meeting looks real, and it can cancel the invite when the answers fail.

What it does

You point the muse at a new invite from an unfamiliar sender. It checks the basics a busy person skips. Does a company with that name exist, doing the work the invite claims? Does the sender email address belong to that company, or is it a look-alike address built to pass a glance? Does anything else line up, such as a real office, a real event, or a reason this company would invite you? When the company behind an invite does not exist at all, the muse flags the invite as fake and can cancel it before it sits on the calendar looking official. You get the findings in plain words, and the decision stays yours.

How to use it

  1. Do not accept, decline, or click anything in the invite yet. An unanswered invite does nothing.
  2. Ask the muse to check it: "Look into this meeting invite. Tell me whether the company exists, whether the sender address really belongs to it, and whether the meeting looks genuine."
  3. Read the findings. If the company cannot be found or the address is a look-alike, have the muse cancel the invite and, if your calendar app allows it, block the sender.
  4. If it looks real but you are still unsure, contact the company through the phone number or address on its own website, never through details inside the invite.

What you need

  • A Muse account
  • A connected calendar the muse can read
  • Invites left unanswered until they are checked

What to watch for

  • It is normal if this sounds strange. Most people have never had a reason to doubt a calendar invite, and checking one takes a minute.
  • A real company name can still be borrowed by a fake sender. The address check matters as much as the name check.
  • No check is perfect. A careful fake can pass the public checks, so treat a first meeting with a stranger as unproven until a person you can reach confirms it.
  • Never join a first meeting through a link inside an unchecked invite. Join through the company's own site or app instead.
