Build a Lead List and Send the First Outreach

Verified 2026-10-14

If you sell a service to local businesses, a muse can build your prospect list: every business of one kind in one city, with a public contact email for each, then draft a personal first message for each and send a small batch you approve.

What it does

Building a prospect list by hand is slow work: search, open each site, hunt for a contact page, copy the details, repeat. A muse can run that sweep in one job. Give it a trade and a city, and it finds the businesses, visits their sites, and pulls the contact details they publish, then hands you the list. From there it can draft a first message for each business, written around something true about it, and send the batch only after you approve it. A list built this way can turn into a small batch of outreach, and even one reply asking for a call makes the batch worth it.

How to use it

  1. Pick one trade and one city. Narrow beats broad: the list is better, and the messages stay specific.
  2. Ask the muse to find every business of that kind in the city and pull the contact email each one publishes.
  3. Review the list first. Remove businesses that are not a fit, and any entry whose only contact looks like a private address.
  4. Have the muse draft one short message per business: who you are, what you can do for them, and a reply or call as the next step.
  5. Read every draft, approve the batch, and let the muse send. Keep the batch small, and have it log who was contacted so nobody gets the same message twice.

What you need

  • A clear offer: what you sell and who it suits
  • An email account the muse can send from, connected with your approval
  • A spreadsheet for the list and send log
  • Time to read the drafts: approval is part of the job

What to watch for

  • Only use contact details a business publishes for customers. A personal address dug up elsewhere is not an invitation to write, and using one can sink your reputation fast.
  • Small and personal beats large and generic. Messages that mention something real about each business beat two hundred copies of one pitch.
  • Expect few replies. One reply asking for a call from a small batch is a good result.
  • The muse prepares and sends, but you decide. It should never agree to prices, dates, or work in a reply without asking you.
