Build a Backlink Outreach List and Draft the Pitches

Verified 2026-11-03

If you run a website and want other sites to link to it, a muse can find the sites worth asking, research each one, organize the contact details into one list, and draft a personalized pitch for each, ready for you to review and send.

What it does

Backlink outreach is slow for a boring reason: the work is mostly searching, reading, and note-taking. For each page you want promoted, the muse looks for websites that cover the same topic and link to similar pages, checks whether each site is a real fit for yours, and records who to contact and how. It then drafts a pitch for each site that refers to that site's own content, instead of one generic message pasted fifty times. The result is one organized list: the site, why it fits, the contact, and the draft pitch beside it. It is steady, repetitive work, which is what makes it a good fit to hand over.

How to use it

  1. Pick one page on your site that genuinely deserves links, such as your best guide or a useful free tool.
  2. Ask the muse to find websites that write about the same topic and already link out to similar pages.
  3. Have it cut the list to real fits only, with a one-line reason for each, and drop directories and link farms.
  4. Ask for the contact details organized in one table, with the pitch drafted for each site.
  5. Read every pitch before it goes out, fix anything that sounds off, and send them yourself or approve the sending.

What you need

  • A Muse account
  • A page on your site worth linking to
  • A short note on what makes your page useful, in your own words

What to watch for

  • Fit matters more than count. Ten pitches to sites that truly cover your topic beat a hundred to sites that do not.
  • Never pay for links or join link schemes. A pitch to a real site that may say no is the safe route.
  • Read each draft closely. A pitch that names the wrong article or the wrong person gets deleted, and it should.
  • Replies and follow-ups are yours to judge. The muse prepares the list and the drafts, you decide who hears from you.
