Add School Homework Deadlines to a Calendar With a Day-Before Reminder

Verified 2026-11-01

Your muse can check your child's school portal each day, collect new homework deadlines, and add each one to a calendar with a day-before reminder and a link back to the assignment.

What it does

Homework deadlines live inside a school portal that most parents open only when something is late. A muse can do the daily checking for you. Once it can sign in to the portal and the school sites you approve, it gathers new and changed due dates, then adds each one to your child's calendar as its own event, with a day-before reminder and a link back to the assignment.

How to use it

  1. Decide which calendar the deadlines land on. A separate calendar for school is easiest to review and turn off.
  2. Connect the school portal through the credential store your muse offers, and name the school sites it may check. Nothing outside the list gets opened.
  3. Show it the job once in plain words: "Check these school sites for new or changed homework deadlines. Add each due date to this calendar, with the assignment name, a link to the source, and a day-before reminder."
  4. Set the check to repeat daily, after the school day ends.
  5. For the first week, open the portal yourself every few days and compare it against the calendar, so you know the routine is catching everything.

What you need

  • A muse account
  • Your child's school portal login, stored through the credential option your muse provides
  • A calendar the deadlines can be added to, ideally a separate one for school
  • The school sites the muse is allowed to check

What to watch for

  • It is normal if handing a school login to an agent sounds strange. Use the credential store rather than pasting the password into a chat, share only the sites the job needs, and remove access whenever you want the routine to stop.
  • Check the first runs by hand. A portal that lays dates out in an unusual way can be read wrong, and catching that in week one beats catching it after a missed deadline.
  • A changed deadline needs a changed event. Ask the muse to update the existing event and tell you when a date moves, instead of adding a second event.
  • Teachers post on their own schedule. A daily check can still miss homework set and due the same day, so keep the day-before reminder as a safety net, not the only plan. The muse keeps the calendar, you stay in charge.
